A vehicle identification number (VIN) is a unique code used by the automotive industry to identify individual motor vehicles, towed vehicles, motorcycles, scooters and mopeds. It is composed of 17 characters (digits and capital letters) that act as a unique identifier for the vehicle. The VIN is assigned to an individual vehicle by its manufacturer and distinguishes it from all other vehicles. VIN numbers provide important information about your vehicle's make, model and serial number.
