To create an episode for an existing patient, from the patient's Episode Manager page:

Click File on the toolbar, then select New, then select Episode from the submenu.

1. Select the Start of Care Date for the episode.
   
   Existing admission periods are displayed; if you are creating a new admission period, select New Admission.
2. Confirm or edit the patient's episode data.
   Episode information is prefilled from the patient's existing records. If you select New Admission from the Start of Care Date field, you are prompted to enter Admission Details.
   
3. Confirm or edit the patient's insurance.
4. Confirm or edit the new episode's clinical assignments.
5. Select an External Referral, if applicable.
6. Click the Add Episode button.

Results

• If you chose to create a new admission with this episode, your episode and new admission period are added.
• If you chose to add this episode to an existing admission, your episode is added to the selected admission period.
