How to create an Authorization

Create an auth request from the toolbar

If you want to create an auth request from the toolbar, you must first be looking at a patient's chart--this "tells" the application which patient the auth is being created for. 

From the toolbar:

  1. Click File, then select New, then select Authorization Request.
    You are taken to the Add/Edit Authorization request screen.
  2. Enter the auth request details.

    1. Enter the Start Date and End Date for the authorization period.
      This restricts the dates upon which visits can be scheduled.
    2. Select the Branch the patient belongs to.
      This must match the branch that the patient belongs to.
    3. Select the Status.
      If you are not assigned the Create Authorization user role, this cannot be changed from "Authorization Requested".
    4. Enter the Authorization Number.
  3. Enter the Visits Requested for each discipline.

    You cannot edit the number of authorized visits from an auth request.
  4. Enter a Comment, if desired.
    Comments could include a reason for the additional visits.
  5. Upload an attachment, if desired.
    This can be useful if you have scanned in any insurance/authorization documents.
  6. Click the Insert/Update Authorization button.

Results

  • You are taken to the Authorization List page for the patient.
  • The authorization request is added in Authorization Requested status and appears on the Pre-authorization tab of Authorization Manager.
